FIELD: polymeric materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of obtaining new polymeric materials, namely, melamine-based epoxy resins and can be used in the manufacture of non-combustible lightweight plastic products instead of metal ones, and also as a binder for fire-retardant coatings, non-combustible casting and impregnating compositions and conventional paints and varnishes. The method for producing melamine-epoxy resins for non-combustible materials and paint coatings is characterized by mixing 5-60 wt.% of melamine with diepoxy aromatic resins with an epoxy group content of at least 5 wt.%, taken in an amount of 20-65 wt.%, in the presence of an organic acid selected from oleic and/ or benzoic acid, in an amount of 10 to 40 wt.%, followed by heating the said mixture to a temperature of 80-160°C for 1-3 hours, cooling and obtaining a copolymer of melamine and diglycidyl ethers. To obtain non-combustible materials and paint coatings, the resulting melamine-epoxy copolymer is mixed with a hardener in the presence of a solvent or without it.
EFFECT: method ensures the production of highly non-combustible materials while providing good physical and mechanical properties, that is, flexibility and hardness, as well as adhesion to various substrates.
