FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is intended for correction of presbyopia and other ophthalmic diseases in a subject. The ophthalmic composition contains one API, such as pilocarpine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, at a concentration of 0.01-0.4% (w/w or w/v), a lubricant and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Also provided are a method for correcting presbyopia, a method for reducing pupil size, a method for inducing miosis, a method for increasing the depth of field of the eye, a method for reducing the magnitude of higher order aberrations in the eye, and a method for improving uncorrected near and distance visual acuity, including administration of the said composition to a subject. In addition, a graft and a kit containing the said composition are provided. In another presentation, an ophthalmic composition is provided containing pilocarpine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof at a concentration of 0.01-0.4% (w/w or w/v), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose at a concentration of 0.1-2.0% (w/w or w/v). weight/volume) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The said composition is used in methods for correcting presbyopia, reducing pupil size and increasing the depth of field of the eye.
EFFECT: use of the group of inventions provides correction of presbyopia, reduction of pupil size, induction of miosis, increase in the depth of field of the eye, decrease in the magnitude of higher-order aberrations in the eye, and improving uncorrected near and distance visual acuity. 66 cl, 2 dwg, 22 tbl, 2 ex
