FIELD: multilayer coatings.
SUBSTANCE: determining the effect of cyclic thermal influences on the characteristics of multilayer coatings with use of synchrotron radiation. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that a sample with a multilayer coating is placed and fixed on a heated holder in an air atmosphere, the surface of the sample is irradiated with a synchrotron radiation beam to obtain and record X-ray patterns obtained at room temperature before and after thermal exposure and obtained at different durations of the thermal cycle, wherein after each of the mentioned series of thermal exposure cycles X-ray patterns are evaluated for the presence of phase changes in the surface of the sample, namely for occurrence of phases different from the initial state and deteriorating the structural characteristics of the sample with a multilayer coating, and additionally, changes in the roughness parameters of the sample with a multilayer coating are evaluated and finally the two evaluations are compared.
EFFECT: enabling the study of changes in the phase composition and structure in a multilayer coating during cyclic heating of the substrate with said coating.
