FIELD: use of A2 beta-casein milk protein.
SUBSTANCE: use of A2 beta-casein milk protein to reduce or prevent symptoms of lactose intolerance. Proposed invention is a process for preventing or reducing chronic symptoms of lactose intolerance by preventing or minimizing the epigenetic changes in one or more genes responsible for regulating the activity and levels of enzymes involved in digestive processes and intestinal function associated with lactose levels in an animal, according to which the animal consumes the composition or an animal is provided with a composition for consumption, wherein the said composition contains beta-casein, wherein said beta-casein contains at least 75% by mass of beta-casein variants containing proline at position 67 of the beta-casein amino acid sequence. Also proposed is the use of milk for the preparation of a composition for the prevention or reduction of chronic symptoms of lactose intolerance, while said milk contains beta-casein, where said beta-casein contains at least 75% by mass of beta-casein variants containing proline at position 67 of the amino acid sequence beta casein.
EFFECT: reduction or prevention of symptoms of lactose intolerance is provided.
