FIELD: manual tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manual striking tools and can be used for chopping firewood. A splitting axe contains a blade with a cutting edge and a head, with the end of the handle placed in the conical hole of the head. The handle is fixed in the hole of the head with a spacer wedge. The head is made in the form of a rectangular tube. The tube has a narrowing in the plane parallel to the narrow edges and is rigidly connected to the blade.
EFFECT: reduction of labor intensity and consumption of metal for the production of a splitting axe.
