FIELD: devices for splitting wood.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in industrial equipment and hand tools. The working body of the cleaver contains a wedge of axial symmetrical shape with side faces (2) and with a cutting edge (3) formed by the intersection of the cheeks (4) of the wedge. The side faces are made in the form of a quadrilateral with one right angle, and the part of the wedge in the area of the cutting edge is made in the cross section in the form of an isosceles triangle.
EFFECT: cutting force of the working body of the cleaver is reduced and the productivity of wood processing is increased due to the elimination of the parasitic torque.
