FIELD: woodworking industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for splitting wood and can be used in industrial equipment and hand tools. Working member of the splitting ax is made wedge-shaped in the area of the cutting edge. Cutting edge is located at the jaw intersection. Part of surfaces of jaws is made of protruding cylindrical shape. Axes of the cylindrical surfaces of the jaws are parallel to the cutting edge and are located on the opposite side relative to the plane of symmetry of the working element.
EFFECT: creation of a structure of a working element of a splitting ax, which does not contain moving parts, with provision of efficient splitting of wood.
