FIELD: air heating.

SUBSTANCE: device for heating an aerosol-forming substrate and a system for generating an aerosol. The device (100) for heating the aerosol-forming substrate consists of a heater (160), an inlet (143) and an outlet (147) of the receiver, and an inlet channel (170) for air. The heater contains a heating element, an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines at least a section of a receiver (140) configured to receive an aerosol-forming substrate or a cartridge containing an aerosol-forming substrate. The receiver input communicates with the receiver and is located upstream of it. The receiver output communicates with the receiver and is located downstream of it. The air inlet is connected with the surrounding medium and the receiver inlet. The air inlet forms a winding path between the surrounding medium and the receiver inlet. The air inlet channel is located relative to the heater with the possibility of heating the air in the specified winding path with the help of the heater. An increase in turbulent air flow is provided, which leads to an increase in the number of collisions of air molecules with hot channel surfaces, which leads to a stronger heating of the surface than in the case of laminar flow through straight channels. It is possible to increase the surface area of the air inlet channel, which is located relative to the heater, in comparison with a straight channel, and this can also serve to improve the heating of the air flowing through the specified winding path.

EFFECT: possibility of stronger air heating than when air passes along a straight path near the heater.
