FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: surgical unit and a dissecting instrument contained therein, which has a high-frequency instrument with an electrode partially insulated by an insulator, the electrode combined with a fluid applicator channel located in the insulator for applying fluid to or into tissue. In preferred embodiments of the dissecting instrument, the electrode is a spatula electrode that is inserted into an insulator that does not cover portions of the electrode's surface such that those portions may be in contact with tissue. In preferred embodiments, the insulator preferably forms the channel-confining walls of the channel. In preferred embodiments, the insulator and the electrode are configured flexible to allow the shape of the insulator and the electrode to be jointly adapted to the surgical task.
