FIELD: icebreaking operations.

SUBSTANCE: device for destroying the ice cover is proposed, which is an underwater vessel moving under the ice at a resonant speed and exciting resonant bending-gravity waves. In the fore end of the vessel in a vertical plane perpendicular to the diametrical plane of the vessel, along the entire perimeter of its hull, pumps are installed for pumping overboard the water located in the space between the light and strong hulls of the vessel, in a radial relation to the symmetry axis of the strong hull of the vessel. The plane in which the pumps are located is inclined relative to the main plane of the vessel at an acute angle with respect to the direction of its movement.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the ice cover destruction.
