FIELD: icebreaking operations.

SUBSTANCE: device for destroying the ice cover is proposed, which is an underwater vessel moving under the ice at a resonant speed and exciting resonant bending-gravity waves. In the fore end of the vessel in a vertical plane perpendicular to the diametrical plane of the vessel, along the entire perimeter of its hull, pumps are installed for pumping overboard the water located in the space between the light and strong hulls of the vessel. The output channels of the pumps are located at an acute angle to the surface of the light hull of the vessel and directed towards its bow. The device is additionally equipped with a programmable time relay, to which the pumps are connected, the time relay is configured to periodically turn the pumps on and off for a time equal to half the period of bending-gravity waves.

EFFECT: improving the efficiency of destruction of ice.
