FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation in ice conditions. A method for the destruction of the ice cover is proposed, which consists in excitation by an underwater multihull vessel in the ice cover of resonant bending-gravity waves. Two underwater hulls of a multihull vessel are interconnected with the possibility of changing the distance between their bow and stern ends. Between the hulls in their bow ends, with the help of pumps previously installed in the hulls of the ships, a hydrodynamic curtain is formed.
EFFECT: invention increases the height of the excited flexural-gravity waves, i.e. their ice-breaking ability.
