FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation in ice conditions. A device for breaking the ice cover is proposed, which is an underwater vessel moving under the ice and exciting resonant bending-gravitational waves. In the fore end of the vessel, in a vertical plane perpendicular to the diametrical plane of the vessel, pumps are installed along the entire transverse perimeter of its hull, capable of pumping water overboard, located in the space between the light and strong hulls of the vessel, in a radial direction with respect to the axis of symmetry of the strong hulls of the vessel. The pumps are capable of pumping water periodically with the frequency of resonant bending-gravity waves for a time equal to half of their period. When the pumps are operating in this mode, the pressure in the fore end of the underwater vessel will periodically increase, which will periodically increase the total height of the excited bending-gravity waves.
EFFECT: increase in the thickness of the ice cover broken.
