FIELD: military equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of target designation for a system of active protection of objects from attacking ammunition (AA). For target designation, all AAs that threaten the protected object from the side surfaces are irradiated with electromagnetic energy from four receiving-transmitting antennas (RTA), which are installed on a circumference at an equal distance along the circular arc from each other in a certain way, current distances from all PPA to each AB, respectively, are measured using signals reflected from each AA, according to the ratio between the measurement results, the belonging of the coordinates of each AB to the corresponding quadrants of the circle mentioned above is determined, then the current values of the slant range from the origin of coordinates to each accompanied AA, as well as the current values of the slant range are calculated using the measured values of the current distances to each AA, then the current values of their azimuths are calculated, as well as the rectangular coordinates of AAs in the coordinate system, the origin of which is aligned with the centre of the circumference mentioned above.

EFFECT: ensuring active protection of the object during its intensive shelling simultaneously from different directions.
