FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: conventional engine of variable compression (CEVC) consists of a four-stroke conventional engine and an additional compressed air supply system. Nozzles (7) for supplying fuel to each cylinder (12) of CEVC are located above the piston (11) at the bottom dead center of the pistons in the cylinder block of CEVC. Next to each of them, at the same level, there is a nozzle (4) for supplying additional compressed air to the volume of each cylinder (12) above the piston (11) at the bottom dead center of the pistons in the cylinder block of CEVC, with the inlet valve (9) already closed or several inlet valves of CEVC. The additional compressed air supply system of CEVC contains an air compressor with a controlled mechanical drive from the CEVC crankshaft or a mechanical shaft of the vehicle transmission, as well as an air receiver with a controlled air valve. CEVC additionally contains at least one knock sensor located on the cylinder block of CEVC, and a mechanical load sensor installed between the CEVC crankshaft and the vehicle transmission mechanical shaft. CEVC consists of a microprocessor control unit that controls the operation of the fuel supply systems, the ignition system and the compressed air supply system according to the signals of the knock sensor and the CEVC mechanical load sensor. A method for functioning of a conventional engine of variable compression is disclosed.
EFFECT: use of fuel with different octane number, while avoiding detonation and vibration modes.
