FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: embodiment of a variable compression engine with a gas-diesel engine and variants of the method of operating a variable compression engine are disclosed. The variable compression engine contains a diesel engine (VCDE) with standard fuel equipment, intake and exhaust valves (9), (10) and an additional compressed air supply system containing an air compressor with a controlled mechanical drive from the crankshaft VCDE and an air receiver with controlled air fittings. In each cylinder (12) there is at least one nozzle (4) for supplying compressed air from the air receiver with controlled air fittings into the volume of each cylinder (12) above piston (11) at the bottom dead centre of pistons (11) when inlet valve (9) or several inlet valves (9) of the VCDE are closed. The VCDE additionally contains at least one knock sensor located on the VCDE cylinder block and a mechanical load sensor installed between the VCDE crankshaft and the VCDE mechanical load shaft. The VCDE also contains a microprocessor control unit that controls operation of the diesel fuel supply systems with standard fuel equipment and an additional compressed air supply system based on signals from the crankshaft position, the knock sensor, and the VCDE mechanical load sensor.
EFFECT: increased power without dangerous vibration.
