FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in heating independent friction pairs ''metal discs - friction facing sectors'' by cyclic or long-term braking at test bench to temperature below, equal to and above tolerable temperature for friction facing materials. Then, thermal electrodes of plate thermocouple are used to define thermal emf of thermal flux by relationship Ei=K(t1-t2), where K is thermal emf factor, mcV/°C; t1 and t2 are surface temperature of friction pairs and ambient medium, °C Then relationship is used where δ1234 ; λ1234 are thickness and heat conductivity factor of materials of the following elements: brake shoe base, friction facing and its surface layer, brake drum ring, to define total thermal current.

EFFECT: accurate estimation of heat amount generated in braking.
