FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to options of a fiber extraction furnace, as well as to a method for the production of optical fiber. The furnace includes a heating section made with the possibility of retention and heating of a glass source, from which optical fiber is extracted. A lower elongated muffle has the first end and the second end. A gas shield is connected to the second end of the lower elongated muffle, made with the possibility of allowance for gas to flow to the lower elongated muffle. A regeneration cylinder is connected to the lower elongated muffle including an outer case defining a regeneration chamber and an inner case located inside the outer case, in which the regeneration cylinder is located between the first end of the lower elongated muffle and the heating section. A set of regeneration ports are tangentially connected to the outer case, and the inner case is located inside the outer case. According to the second option of the furnace, the outer case defines a regeneration chamber containing a set of regeneration ports connected to it, while the set of regeneration ports are located at an angle of 45° or less to an inner and/or outer surface of the case of the regeneration cylinder. The inner case is located inside the outer case, wherein the inner case defines an input with a rim.
EFFECT: reduction in defects of optical fiber.
