FIELD: electrometallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vacuum arc remelting of highly reactive metals and alloys, and can be used in the smelting of titanium alloy ingots of Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al grade. Method includes preparing a cast consumable electrode for melting, an initial melting period consisting of the stage of heating the lower end of the consumable electrode and the stage of inducing a liquid metal bath, the main melting period consisting of the stage of transition to the operating current and the stage of the stationary mode of the operating current, and the end of the melting process - removal of the shrinkage shell. The stage of inducing a bath of liquid metal is carried out at an arc current strength of 1520 kA, while the stage of transition to the operating current is completed upon reaching the height of the deposited ingot of 300...400 mm with the height of the crystallized layer of the ingot of 150250 mm, and at the stage of the stationary mode of the operating current, the ingot is melted at an arc current of 7.47.6 kA with maintaining the arc gap in the interval of 513 mm.

EFFECT: invention allows to obtain the structure of the ingot with the absence of local chemical inhomogeneities -flecks at the bottom of the ingot.
