FIELD: special electrometallurgy; vacuum arc remelting of highly reactive metals and alloys.
SUBSTANCE: invention and can be used in the smelting of Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo titanium alloy ingots. The method includes preparing a cast consumable electrode for melting, an initial melting period consisting of the stage of heating the lower end of the consumable electrode and the stage of inducing a liquid metal bath, the main melting period consisting of the stage of transition to the operating current and the stage of the stationary mode of the operating current, and the end of the melting process - removal of the shrinkage shell. The stage of inducing the liquid metal bath is carried out at an arc current strength of 15…18 kA, while the stage of transition to operating current is completed when the depth of the liquid metal bath reaches 300…500 mm. At the stage of stationary operating current mode, the ingot is melted while maintaining the arc gap in the range of 20…50 mm.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain an ingot structure that limits the formation of local chemical inhomogeneities, in particular zonal segregation and segregation defects in the form of a tree-like structure.
