FIELD: electrical engineering; power industry.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in connecting a capacitor in parallel to the end point of the lighting line in order to ensure a given power factor and continuously monitor the power factor of the protected lighting line at the point of connection of the lighting line. In the event of a break in the line, the comparison unit will record an unacceptable deviation of the measured value of the power factor from the set value and generate a control signal to the block influencing the electrical circuit, which switches off the emergency lighting line.

EFFECT: detection of a break in the outgoing line of the street lighting network and its automatic shutdown.
