SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of engine construction, namely to methods for controlling the operation of diesel and gasoline four-stroke internal combustion engines, it can be used to change the compression ratio and, accordingly, reduce fuel consumption on modern four-stroke internal combustion engines. The method for improving a four-stroke internal combustion engine, containing at least one cylinder, a piston, a cylinder head, a combustion chamber formed by the surfaces of the head and the bottom of the piston, consists in reducing the standard volume of the combustion chamber of the engine produced by the manufacturer. At the same time, an increase in the compression ratio is achieved by reducing the volume of the engine combustion chamber by half. In addition, the filling coefficient of the working cylinder is also reduced by half by using constant pressure check valves of 0.5 kgf/cm2 as suction valves, which are supplied with springs without a drive mechanism, and are adjusted to open at a pressure in the cylinder from 0 to 0.5 kgf/cm2, in addition, in diesel engines, cyclic fuel injection is reduced by regulating the operation of a high-pressure fuel pump.
EFFECT: reduction in specific fuel consumption due to an increase in the compression ratio by reducing the volume of the combustion chamber by half, as well as a reduction in the filling coefficient of the working cylinder by half by using constant pressure check valves of 0.5 kgf/cm2 as suction valves.
