FIELD: orthopedic dentistry.

SUBSTANCE: used for complex X-ray diagnostics of joint and muscle dysfunction of the temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ JMD). Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the facial part of the skull with a size of 200x170 mm is performed with the capture of the temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) in the closed and open position of the mouth. In this case, CBCT is performed with the capture of the cervical spine (CS) and the angle of deviation α of spinous process of the 2nd cervical vertebra on a plane drawn from the Y-line through the incisive foramen and the internal occipital protuberance of the skull and perpendicular to the X-line drawn through the middle of the apex of the dens axis 2 of the cervical vertebra is determined. Compare the indicators of the angle variationα from the Y-line of the spinous process of the 2nd cervical vertebra with the mouth closed and open. As the angle increasesα in the open position of the mouth, the combined pathology of TMJ JMD and CS is diagnosed.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of diagnosis of TMJ JMD by determining the angle of deviation α.
