FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthodontic dentistry, and can be used for rapid diagnosis of the state of intra-articular structures. Magnetic resonance imaging of the temporomandibular joint is performed in an oblique-sagittal projection from the right and left sides in the position of multiple fissure-tubercle of teeth and with a wide open mouth. Angular value of the dislocation index of the posterior pole of each articular disc in relation to the upper pole of the articular head is determined in a polar coordinate system with the location of its origin in the geometric centre of the condylar head of the joint in the range of the position of the posterior pole of disc from 90° up to 180° in position of multiple fissure-tubercle contact of teeth. Physical state of each articular disc is determined in the form of a linguistic variable, which takes values: non-deformed and deformed. Possibility of disc reduction with wide mouth opening is detected by determining the index of each joint disc reduction in the form of linguistic variable assuming the following values: complete, partial, absent. Complex criterion of the TMJ state is used to make the diagnosis, which includes an index of the dislocation of the posterior pole of each articular disc, an index of the physical state of each articular disc and an index of the reposition of each articular disc when opening the mouth.
EFFECT: method enables to quickly draw up a plan of orthodontic and orthopaedic treatment of patients by rapid assessment of the state of intra-articular structures of the temporomandibular joint.
