FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for the determination of temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. Functional multispiral computed tomography (FMSCT) is performed in the bulk mode with a cut thickness of 0.5 mm for 9 seconds. At that, the patient gradually opens the mouth from the position of habitual occlusion. The resulting images are processed with plotting of three-dimensional and multiplanar reconstructions in static form and in motion, evaluating the relationship between the heads of the condylar processes of the mandible and glenoid fossae in sagittal and coronary planes. At that, the width of the joint gap is measured at each stage of mouth opening in three points: in the anterior, middle, posterior sections of the joint gap. When a violation of the displacement heads of the condylar process of the mandible relative to the glenoid fossa and the articular tubercle is visualized during motion and at a maximum open mouth, presence of TMJ dysfunction is stated.
EFFECT: method allows to determine a violation of biomechanical relationship between temporo-mandibular joints structures, optimizing the radiation diagnostics protocol at each stage of mouth opening, with an ability to assess the availability and nature of lateral offsets of the lower jaw.
