FIELD: inorganic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: sodium borate, aluminium powder and fluoride powder are mixed in a sealed reactor filled with hydrogen gas, and the mixture is reacted at a temperature of not less than 410°C and not more than 560°C to obtain sodium borohydride. The invention can be used in the production of sodium borohydride used as a source of hydrogen. The method for producing sodium borohydride includes mixing sodium borate, aluminium powder and fluoride powder in a sealed reactor filled with hydrogen gas, and carrying out the reaction of the mixture at a temperature not lower than 410°C and not higher than 560°C. Sodium borate is one or more compounds selected from sodium metaborate, sodium tetraborate and sodium diborate. The fluoride is one or more selected from sodium fluoride NaF, sodium hexafluoroaluminate Na3 AlF6, potassium fluoride KF, potassium tetrafluoroaluminate KAlF4, aluminum fluoride AlF3 and lithium fluoride LiF.
EFFECT: simplification of the production of sodium borohydride and increasing its yield.
