FIELD: clock mechanisms.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a helical spring intended for installation on the balance of a clock mechanism. Essence: a spiral spring is made of an alloy consisting of: Nb, Ti and at least one element selected from V and Ta, optionally at least one element selected from Zr and Hf, optionally at least one element selected from W and Mo, possible traces of other elements selected from O, H, C, Fe, N, Ni, Si, Cu, Al, with the following mass content of elements, the total amount of which is 100%: the total content of Nb, V and Ta is 40-85%, the total content of Ti, Zr and Hf is 15-55%, the content of W and Mo is respectively 0-2.5%, the content of each of these elements selected from O, H, C, Fe, N, Ni, Si, Cu, Al, is 0-1600 ppm with the sum of these trace elements less than or equal to 0.3 wt.%. This invention relates to the method for manufacturing the spiral spring.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of obtaining a very fine microstructure, which, in particular, is nanometric, including the beta phase of niobium, tantalum and/or vanadium and the alpha phase of titanium and zirconium and/or hafnium, as well as providing a high elastic limit above at least less than 500 MPa and an elastic modulus greater than or equal to 100 GPa.
