FIELD: time measurement.
SUBSTANCE: present invention is related to a balance spring intended for installation on the balance of a mechanism related to the measurement of time. The balance spring is made of an alloy consisting of: Nb, Ti, H and possible traces of other elements selected from O, C, Fe, N, Ni, Si, Cu and Al with the following weight percentages: Ti content is 1-80 wt.%, H content is 0.17-2 wt.%, the total content of all other elements is less than or equal to 0.3 wt.%, the rest is Nb up to 100 wt.%. The present invention is also related to a method for manufacturing a balance spring with the step of thermochemically treating a blank made of Nb and Ti alloy in an atmosphere containing hydrogen to enrich the Nb and Ti alloy with interstitial hydrogen.
EFFECT: reducing the average temperature error by maintaining the temperature coefficient close to zero, as well as increasing the strength of the alloy.
