FIELD: method and system for determining the energy content of a flowing fluid in a gaseous state.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining the energy content of a flowing fluid in a gaseous state, comprising the step of inferring, by means of an inference module (204), the energy content of a flowing fluid in a gaseous state from an inferred relationship between the energy content of a flowing fluid in a gaseous state, at least with one measurement taken on a flowing fluid in a liquid state, wherein at least one measurement contains the measured density and the energy content is the energy of the fluid during combustion. The method is carried out by means of a computer system (200) having a processor (210) and a storage device (220), wherein the storage device (220) has an inference module (204).

EFFECT: ability to accurately determine the energy content of the medium in the gaseous state online.
