FIELD: tool steels.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for surface hardening of tool steels by modifying their surface properties by combined processing, in particular, chemical and thermal boroaluminizing and heat treatment with an accelerated electron beam. A saturating paste is used containing, wt%: 80 B4C + 17 Al + 3NaF mixed with organic zaponlak glue. Chemical and thermal boroaluminizing of the part surface is carried out in a muffle furnace at a temperature of 1050°C for 2 hours, followed by surface modification by heat treatment with a scanning stationary electron beam in a vacuum of 10-4 -10-3 Pa for 2-5 minutes.
EFFECT: method ensures the formation of layers that combine the properties of hardness and plasticity due to the uniform distribution of microhardness and phase composition over the depth of the modified layer to obtain a homogeneous structure.
