FIELD: rocket technology; aircraft and engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for applying layered polymer composite materials (PCM) on large-sized closed structures. The method of applying layered heat-shielding materials to large-sized structures includes laying covers on the body surface treated with an epoxy adhesive composition and their layer-by-layer impregnation with an epoxy adhesive composition, after which additional structural elements are formed. Then, a tooling with an elastic membrane is mounted and moulding is carried out in an oven with simultaneous thermal curing of the adhesive composition by creating excess pressure in the cavity between the elastic membrane and the tooling with a working fluid with a boiling point higher than the moulding temperature. Cooling of the body assembly with the applied composite material after curing is carried out, without relieving pressure, inside the furnace by lowering the temperature of the furnace at a rate of not more than 0.5°/min.
EFFECT: method provides the required quality of applying a composite material, in particular, high smoothness and low porosity of the surface, thermal erosion resistance, operational reliability of the adhesive joint.
