FIELD: aviation and rocket technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related in particular to methods for applying a heat shielding coating to the outer surface of housing products, i.e. housings of solid rocket engines of hypersonic aircraft, and can be used to obtain monolithic structures of airframe elements protected from aerodynamic heating and high-speed flows, consisting of welded a power case made of steel of different grades and an ablative heat shielding coating (HSC) based on fiberglass. The method of applying a heat shielding coating on the outer surface of a welded load-bearing body includes manufacturing a workpiece in form of a cover from a heat resistant non-metallic woven material, the dimensions of the inner surface of which correspond to the dimensions of the outer surface of the body, manual impregnation of the cover workpiece with a binder and putting the cover on the housing of the product, followed by molding and polymerization, while the intermediate sublayer of a heat shielding coating is formed directly on the housing by means of excessive external pressure through a flexible membrane, followed, after polymerization, by turning the sublayer and gluing the main coating element (a heat shielding shell made using RTM technology) onto the housing with a sublayer using an adhesive composition to form monolithic design "welded housing - sublayer - shell of heat shielding coating" with uniformity of thermal erosion properties over the entire area of the housing.
EFFECT: invention provides compensation for differences in thermal expansion of dissimilar materials in a monolithic structure.
