FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing oxidized lignins, oxidized lignin and its use as a binder and adhesive composition. The method for producing oxidized lignins includes bringing into contact a component (I), containing one or more lignins, component (II), including ammonia, component (III), including one or more oxidizing agents in the form of hydrogen peroxide, and component (IV) in the form of one or several plasticizers, including polyethylene glycol. The method is characterized by the following: relative to the dry weight of lignin, the amount of 25% ammonia is 0.01–0.5 weight parts, the amount of 30% hydrogen peroxide is 0.025–1.0 weight parts and the amount of polyethylene glycol is 0.03–0.60 weight parts.

EFFECT: provision of a high-performance method for derivatizing lignins, obtaining modified lignins with the desired reactivity and fire resistance, having long-term stability and the use of derivatized lignins as a binder in an aqueous composition for mineral fibers and an adhesive composition for wood and similar materials.
