METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE CORROSION RATE OF STEELS IN HEAVY LIQUID METAL COOLANTS CONTAINING OXYGEN Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC G01N17/00

Abstract RU 2794066 C1

FIELD: corrosion tests.

SUBSTANCE: use in the nuclear industry to justify the performance of construction materials of new generation reactor plants. The method for determining the corrosion rate of steels in heavy liquid-metal coolants containing oxygen includes the preparation of samples with the determination of their surface area S, mass mo and density ρMe before testing, exposure of samples in a corrosive environment for a certain time t, determination of the mass m1 and the average density of samples with corrosion products ρср after testing and calculation of the corrosion rate using the measured values of the mass mo, m1 and the density of the samples ρMe, ρок before and after corrosion tests and known values of the density of corrosion products ρok by the following formula:

.

At the same time, after testing steels in heavy liquid-metal coolants containing oxygen, a phased removal of lead residues from the surface of the samples is carried out chemically in a solution of H2O:CH3COOH:H2O2=4:1:3 until the sample mass remains constant and control lead content in corrosion products, which should be no more than 2% by weight.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy and reliability of determining the corrosion rate, expanding the scope and improving the manufacturability of measurements.
