FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to atomic technology, in particular to fast-neutron nuclear reactors with a liquid metal heat carrier based on lead and its alloys with absorbing elements. Fast neutron nuclear reactor with a liquid metal heat carrier contains a ventilated absorbing element made in the form of limited end parts with through channels of a tubular casing in which a neutron absorber – boron carbide is placed. Shell and the end parts are made of chromium-silicon steel of ferritic-martensitic class. Diameter of the tablets is less than the internal diameter of the shell and is determined by the formula: dtabl ≤ [Din. sh - 0.55 (Din. sh /12) 0.25] [1-0.01a⋅(ψ-1)] (mm), where dtabl – diameter of the absorber tablet (mm), Din. sh – inner diameter of the shell (mm), a – specific swelling of boron carbide (%/%), ψ – burnout of boron atoms (%).
EFFECT: improving the reliability and increasing the life of the absorbing element during the operation of a fast-neutron nuclear reactor with a heavy liquid-metal heat carrier based on lead or its alloys.
