FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to devices for producing metal powders of spherical shape by the method of plasma wire atomization. The device consists of a power source, a water-cooled spray chamber, a powder collection tank installed in the lower part of the spray chamber, a plasma torch, a system for feeding a conductive wire through a guide towards the plasma torch, a vacuum system, a gas supply system coaxially with the plasma torch cathode and gas flow circulation. At the same time, the plasma torch is configured with a protective cap with channels for producing swaging gas, which provides additional dispersion of melt drops and protection of the walls of the spray chamber from liquid melt drops.

EFFECT: obtaining a powder for additive technologies with a degree of sphericity of at least 0.8, a fractional composition of not more than 106 microns, with a low content of gas-forming impurities, a fluidity of not more than 30 s, and also without defects or satellites.
