FIELD: measurement systems.
SUBSTANCE: embodiments of the present invention relate to process fluid flow measurement systems, and more particularly to a dual sensor vortex flow meter that provides fluid flow rate measurement based on one or both sensors. The vortex flowmeter includes a housing having an internal cavity, a vortex former supported by the housing and extending into the internal cavity, an ultrasonic sensor, a bending moment sensor, and a controller. The ultrasonic sensor is configured to produce an ultrasonic sensor flow output that is indicative of the fluid flow rate through the internal cavity. The bending moment sensor is configured to produce a bending moment sensor flow output that is indicative of the fluid flow rate through the internal cavity. The controller is configured to generate a flow measurement that indicates flow based on the ultrasonic flow sensor output and/or the bending moment sensor flow output.
EFFECT: providing the ability to accurately determine the flow rate for various modes of flow of the medium.
