FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy, particularly, to cleaning spongy titanium from impurities by vacuum separation. Method includes installation of separation apparatus in an electric furnace, creating vacuum in apparatus by means of vacuum pump, measurement of absolute pressure with an absolute pressure sensor installed on a pipe for evacuation of cover flange of retort-reactor, creating vacuum in retort-condenser by means of vacuum pump, measurement of absolute pressure with absolute pressure sensor, installed on shank of retort-condenser. In electric furnace counter-vacuum is created by means of vacuum pump, absolute pressure of counter-vacuum is measured with an absolute pressure sensor installed in electric furnace hearth. Absolute pressure sensors are connected via a converter and communication modules to a microprocessor controller, which is connected through communication modules to a data collection and dispatch control system and with vacuum relay connected with vacuum pumps.

EFFECT: longer service life of separation device and improved quality of spongy titanium at its output.
