FIELD: medicine; cardiology.
SUBSTANCE: soft tissue incision is made in the area of the ventricular catheter installation. The edges of the incision are raised. A burr hole is made in the bones of the skull, a dura mater is punctured, and a ventricular catheter is placed into the cavity of the lateral ventricle through the brain parenchyma. The burr hole is applied in such a way that its center lies at a point located on the coronal suture 3 cm from the bregma. The ventricular catheter is immersed into the parenchyma along the normal to the surface of the skull at the specified point.
EFFECT: method allows to simplify the technique of ventriculostomy without increasing the number of postoperative complications.
