FIELD: medicine; cardiology.
SUBSTANCE: incision is made in the soft tissues in the area of the ventricular catheter installation. The edges of the incision are raised. A burr hole is made in the bones of the skull, a dura mater is punctured, and a ventricular catheter is placed into the ventricular cavity through the brain parenchyma. One catheter is used to drain both lateral ventricles. The cutter hole is applied in such a way that its center is located at 60±5 mm higher and 60±5 mm lateral to the external occiput. Lateral holes are formed on the walls of the catheter, and the catheter is advanced along a trajectory connecting the posterior horn of the ipsilateral lateral ventricle, the interventricular septum, and the anterior horn of the contralateral lateral ventricle. The guideline for advancing the catheter is a point located on the contralateral superior temporal line by 15±5 mm from the posterior edge of the fronto-zygomatic suture.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the efficiency of ventriculostomy in cases of bilateral obstruction of the interventricular holes.
