FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biomedical research and clinical medicine, and can be used to assess the risk of herniated protrusions of the C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 intervertebral discs of the cervical spine. On the MRI image of the studied intervertebral disc, the height of the disc is measured at the level of the anterior edges of the adjacent vertebrae and the length of the segment lying between the midpoint of the disc height and the intersection point of the sagittal plane and the straight line passing through the centers of the intervertebral joints, their ratio is determined by the following formula: X=1/2H/L, where H is the height of the disc at the level of the anterior edges of neighboring vertebrae; L is the length of the segment lying between the point of the mid-height of the disk and the point of intersection of the sagittal plane and the straight line passing through the centers of the intervertebral joints. The risk of hernial protrusion for each disc is assessed as follows: when the value of X is greater than or equal to 0.11 the risk is high; with a value of X from 0.06 inclusive to 0.08 inclusive the risk is medium; with an X value of 0.05 or less, the risk is low.
EFFECT: method provides increased information content, the possibility of predicting the development of cervical dorsopathies, modeling postoperative complications of surgical treatment in the cervical region using implants by assessing the influence of a biomechanical factor on the process of formation of disk material displacements.
