DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR SPINAL NERVE COMPRESSION IN INTERVERTEBRAL CANAL Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B6/03

Abstract RU 2417055 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, neurosurgery, neurology and X-ray diagnostics, and can be used for diagnosis of spinal nerve compression in various disorders of a spinal motion segment, particularly in degenerative dystrophic diseases of any level of the spinal column. It involves spiral computered and magnetic resonant tomography of a cervical, and/or thoracic, and/or lumbar spines, double-side examination of intervertebral foramens and canals for constrictions or deformations. The condition of the spinal cord, spinal nerves and elements of the spinal motion segment is evaluated by detecting the reasons of bone and soft tissue compressions. If any detected, the volume of the intervertebral canals is measured from both sides at a level of a diagnosed pathology, and a compression degree is determined: if the volume decreasing as compared with the opposite side by 15-30 %, the compression degree is considered to be moderate, decrease by 31-60 % shows the evident degree, while decease over 60% indicate the considerable degree for each of the compression reasons - bone and soft tissue.

EFFECT: more accurate diagnosis ensured by describing the nature and degree of the spinal nerve compression at any spinal level.
