SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to antiviral and virucidal compositions and a method for treating viral infections. A composition of antiviral and virucidal nasal spray containing: chlorpheniramine maleate at a concentration of 0.1 to 1% by weight; xylitol at a concentration of 5 to 15% by weight; and grapefruit seed extract at a concentration of from 0.1 to 1% by weight, as well as a method of treating viral infections in a subject requiring such treatment, including the introduction of the above nasal spray composition into the nasal passages of the specified subject are proposed. It also offers an antiviral and virucidal nasal spray composition containing: chlorpheniramine maleate at a concentration of 0.4 to 1% by weight; fluticasone propionate at a concentration of 0.03 to 1.0% by weight; and grapefruit seed extract at a concentration of 0.01 to 3% by weight.
EFFECT: compositions and method are effective for treating or preventing viral infections such as influenza A and B, coronaviruses including COVID-19, rhinoviruses.
