FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to wound dressings for use in cases where a patient has a penetrating chest wound. The wound dressing comprises a base layer having a lower surface facing the wound and an upper surface facing away from the wound, and a slot in it for positioning over the wound, and an upper layer located above the slot and at least part of the upper surface. The base layer is connected to the top layer in such a way that the wound dressing can be transformed from an open configuration in which the slit and the region that is external to the wound dressing are in fluid communication with at least one perimeter opening between the base layer and the top layer, into a closed configuration in which the top layer forms a seal over the slot. A method for manufacturing a wound dressing and an alternative embodiment of the wound dressing are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result is the exclusion of blocking the exit of air and biological fluid in a patient with a penetrating chest wound.
