SUBSTANCE: method for selecting a safe landing zone for an aircraft (AC). To select a safe landing zone, using one or more three-dimensional (3D) sensors installed on an aircraft (AC), a three-dimensional point cloud characterizing the space under the AC is obtained and converted into a set of flat cells describing the surfaces of objects and the terrain, while the points from the point cloud that do not belong to any surface, are excluded from the point cloud, search for obstacles among the set of cells, for each cell that is not defined as an obstacle, form the proposed landing area based on the current cell, determine the surface flatness of the proposed landing area, determine the angle slope of the proposed landing area, determine the distance of the current cell from obstacles, assign the current cell a landing safety level in accordance with the previously obtained data, and select a landing zone based on the landing safety level of the cells.
EFFECT: increased safety of aircraft landing.
