FIELD: self-driving vehicle.
SUBSTANCE: providing scan data for decision making by a self-driving vehicle. Self-driving vehicle includes a scanning sensor that scans the vicinity of the self-driving vehicle in successive scan cycles. The method includes: receiving a request for scan information associated with the requested space segment; deciding whether to wait for the next scan of the requested segment and use scan data from the next scan, or to obtain and use scan data from a previous scan of the requested segment; processing the scan data to generate scan information for the requested segment, providing scan information for the requested segment in response to the request, and driving the self-driving vehicle according to the decision regarding the manoeuvre to be performed by the self-driving vehicle, based at least in part on the information scanning.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of quick access to up-to-date data and ensuring safer decision-making when manoeuvring a self-driving vehicle.
