FIELD: laser detection and ranging systems - lidars (LiDAR, Light Detection and Ranging).
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for selective scanning of objects in areas of interest in space. The method includes issuing a command by the controller to the light source to emit light for scanning in the first direction by the first optical element of the optical system, which rotates around the first axis perpendicular to the first direction, partially determining the field of view of the optical system, detection by at least one sensor connected with a controller, of a light signal reflected from surrounding objects in the field of view of the optical system, selecting by the controller an area of interest in the field of view based on at least partially reflected signal, and issuing by the controller a command to the second optical element to selectively rotate around a second axis parallel to the first axis, to change scanning frequency in the region of interest.
EFFECT: effective use of computing resources of the lidar system to create a better and more reliable resulting three-dimensional point map of the surrounding space and/or the current vehicle trajectory while improving the safety of the vehicle.
