SUBSTANCE: technology relates in particular to methods and systems for selective scanning of objects in areas of interest. The lidar system and the method of controlling the optical system involve the action of the controller on the light source to emit light pulses with the first pulse repetition rate, the direction of the light pulses by the scanning device connected to the controller from the optical system, detection by at least one sensor connected to the controller, of a light signal reflected from at least one object in the field of view of the optical system, the controller determines the signal-to-noise ratio of the reflected light signal, the controller determines the difference between the signal-to-noise ratio and the threshold signal-to-noise ratio, and the controller influences the light source for emission, pulses light with a second pulse repetition rate different from the first pulse repetition frequency, based on this difference.
EFFECT: improving the quality of spatial localization of objects by a lidar system while limiting the influence of signal quality.
