FIELD: electric motor construction.

SUBSTANCE: reconfigurable traction-charging system and a method for its implementation. The system is located in an electrical device with a rechargeable battery and it consists of: an electric motor, an inverter, an output rectifier, a configurator, a controller. The electric motor consists of a stator having teeth and windings wound around a plurality of stator teeth. The stator winding on at least one tooth is divided into two or more coils. The inverter contains the power switches of devices. The configurator contains contactors connected to the stator windings and power switching devices. The controller operates the power switching devices and a plurality of contactors to configure the system for operation in both traction and charge modes. In traction mode: the rechargeable battery supplies power energy to the electric motor through an inverter, the coils are connected in series. In charge mode: the connections associated with the power switching devices and the stator windings are configured to generate electrical power by the charger from an external power source to charge a rechargeable battery, the coils are connected in parallel.

EFFECT: implementation of a reconfigurable traction-charging system.
