FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to modified butadiene-styrene copolymer, which can be used as a flame retardant for polymer compositions based on foamed polystyrene. The present invention relates to a group of inventions: modified diene-containing (co)polymer, options of a method for the production of modified diene-containing (co)polymer, the use of modified diene-containing (co)polymer, foamed polystyrene, and a polymer composition based on foamed polystyrene for construction. Modified diene-containing (co)polymer contains halogen atoms and acyloxyhalogenated diene links, having a temperature of 5% weight loss of at least 180°C, average-mass molecular weight of at least 1500 g/mol, and halogen content of at least 35 wt.%. This modified diene-containing (co)polymer is used as a flame retardant. Foamed polystyrene contains modified diene-containing (co)polymer as a flame retardant. The polymer composition based on foamed polystyrene includes modified diene-containing (co)polymer as a flame retardant and additives providing a complex of technological, physical and mechanical, and operational characteristics.
EFFECT: development of a flame retardant based on diene-containing (co)polymer, which will be heat-resistant, will satisfy ecological requirements, as well as will not negatively affect a process of polymerization and formation of polystyrene granules, while it will show good compatibility and provide excellent fire-protection properties to polystyrene, including foamed polystyrene.
